Highslide JS The slight misalignment of the chrome trim at the rear of the door is very frustrating! I think it's down to a pressing error as the trims are aligned exactly the same distance vertically from the bend in the body pressing. The replacement doors I fitted several years ago had the same fault. The rear bumper on the offside needed some serious persuasion to get it to align properly - the end is sticking up here.
Highslide JS I'd never had the hood securing straps before and they certainly keep the hood tidy. A tonneau cover is normally fitted.
  Life after the Rebuild

So that was it. June 2003 was when dismantling started and September 2004 it passed its MOT without any issues. So what happened next? Basically the MG has proven to be very reliable.
Highslide JS One of the main issues has been the MGB's battery system. As can be seen here, we have 2 6V batteries wired in series. The batteries are expensive and don't last long. For some reason, they have a habit of eating the terminal connectors and replacing the main connection - the wire that runs from the battery down the length of the car to the starter motor - takes a bit of time. In the end I replaced the batteries with a single battery from Halfords. I will update this entry later with the part number. That has lasted much better and doesn't seem to eat the connections.
Highslide JS The major post build problem came at the 500 mile check when I went round everything to see if anything had worked loose. As I mentioned, I've used stainless fasteners everywhere except for the suspension and have had no issues. However I couldn't help noticing what was happening to the front suspension bushes.

The photo is not good but it does show how the bushes were cracking.
Highslide JS There was nothing for it but to strip down the front suspension to see what was happening. The cracking was affecting all the bushes.
Highslide JS I contacted the MGOC who I had bought it from and they were no help at all. I did manage to extract from them, the company that supplied the suspension system. I contacted Hoyle Suspension who couldn't have been more helpful. They were astonished that MGOC had supplied the yellow bushes and said that I needed to fit these purple bushes. Since then, no problems.
