Now we need to get some trains in the picture. Hal O'the Wynd speeds through on a passenger while a 9F trundles through on a van freight. The Land Rover is completely wrong for the era!

A long interval from the last post as the full size loco job takes up a lot of the time. Initially I controlled the signals directly from this frame with some relay interlocking to provide flank protection on the double junction. That didn't do justice to Steve's signal so a better solution had to be found. The sharp eyed amongst you will spot the mistake on the picture. The diagram was printed on A3 using a good quality colour printer, placed on top of a sheet of aluminium and then a piece of perspex on top. You need special perspex drills - I found out the hard way!

This is what took the time as I went down a few blind alleys and blew up a Pokeys interface board. One interface board drives the points (top left). It has to switch over 12V+ and 0v to 0V and 12V+ to drive the point motors. The 2 lower left hand boards drive the signals. The output is simpler as it's just 12V or 0V. The right hand boards are detection. They receive the inputs from the point motors and feed the outputs to the Pokeys interface board (and onto the PC) and also to the indicator LEDS on the frame panel.

The output from a low end PC is send to this monitor currently showing a route set to the branch. A database contains the routing table which controls the interlocking. Later the low end PC wasn't up to the job and had to be replaced. Too much bloatware in modern software! I would like to use a Raspberry Pi for this but don't enough spare time.

The east end of the carriage sidings. The colour lights, hopefully, will be replaced by semaphore signals.

Clan Stewart has joined the stock list. Clan Stewart and Earl Haig meet on the canal bridge. I've started to add the water, from Woodland Scenics, to the canal. You need to build it up in small layers and I'm very impressed with the end result.. The mock signal awaits Dapol to release their bracket signals. Apologies for the picture quality, the phone takes milky pictures.
